Primates & Savanna - 10 Days

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda

Be met by your safari guide at Entebbe international airport for the start your 10 days Uganda safari with primates. This first day you are taken to the hotel in Kampala to relax after the flight and be ready for an early start tomorrow.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, “The Primate City”

Early transfer – Swift out of the city, it’s around a 5hrs drive with our target to have lunch in Fortportal town and proceed for an evening around in the Tropical forest. Pressure and fatigue is lessened as a punctuation of stopovers at sceneries, typical African village setup in the far countryside and tea plantations along the drive offer us chances of stretching. When entering the Kibale area we keep our eyes open since there is an amazing display of primates in this area. Monkey species that can be seen are for example black and white colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkey and grey cheeked mangabeys.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest (Or Chimpanzee Habituation Experience Option)

Head into the forest of the Primate city of Kibale in the morning for chimpanzee trekking, the first great ape you will meat during this 10 days Uganda safari with primates. This is a three hour experience. As an option you can upgrade to participating in Chimpanzee habituation, where you get to follow the chimps for the whole day, a truly exclusive experience (let us know when booking if you wish for this option). Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in there frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food, plus rare bird species following them. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day.

Day 4: Crater Lakes Walk & Boat-Cruise on Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth NP

After breakfast we leave the lodge and head to the close by crater lakes area for a walk in beautiful nature and chance of seeing primates like black and white colobus. After the walk we make the journey down to the lodge by Queen Elizabeth NP having lunch along the way. In the afternoon continue this 10-days Uganda Safari by getting ready for the Classic highlights on the 2hrs Boat cruise starting at 3pm on the famous Kazinga channel. This 36kms channel links Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you can see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning and some slashing canines to each other, the National Geographical society Killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks and Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home of Mamaland Uganda. With your Binoculars along the peninsula you have a magnificent view of Birds and animals like the ever playing African Elephants in Waters as we sigh and reset Fatigue and stress, to point zero.

Day 5: Game-Drive and Transfer to Ishasha for Afternoon Game-Drive

Experience Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning, an early game drive that exposes us to diverse animals, Big 5 members Elephants, Buffalos, big cats- Lions, Leopards more times in the evening, warthogs- Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas and many more species that are residents to this park are spotted along the Circuits as we drive along. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the Flamingoes in the salt lakes. After the game-drive we head southwards to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP, known for tree-climbing lions. We have lunch at the lodge by Ishasha, relax a bit and then head out for an afternoon game-drive for topis, buffaloes, elephants and hopefully a good sighting of tree-climbing lions.

Day 6: Game-Drive in Ishasha & Transfer to Bwindi Mountains

This morning we enter Ishasha for a second chance to find the tree-climbing lions and enjoy the park with a morning game-drive. After the game-drive and lunch at the lodge we continue on to the mountains of Bwind. This journey offers stunning views as we transfer from a landscape of savanna, via cultivated hills to the forest covered mountains of Bwindi. (If we reach early we can do a walk and mix with the locals).

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking Day- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas, and here you will have the highlight of this 10 days Uganda safari with primates; the gorilla trekking. In the morning you head into the jungle in a group with a specialized guide and trek up to the point where the gorillas are. You then get to spend one hour with these gentle giants. This Impenetrable Forest is as well full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. After the trek your guide picks you and make the drive to Lake Bunyonyi, which is offers beautiful scenic nature and a chance for a swim (safe here since there is no bilharzia).

Day 8: Free Day by Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy a free day by the lake with a shortlist of possible activities such as swimming, hiking, canoeing and visiting other islands. (activities this day are optional and not included in the price)

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo, the ‘Zebra Magnet’

After breakfast we continue the 10 days Uganda safari by leaving the beautiful lake behind and make the journey to Lake Mburo national park. We aim to reach the lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon we head in to the park and game drive for view of zebras, topis, warthogs, giraffes, cape buffaloes and impalas. If we are lucky we catch a sight of a leopard.

Day 10: Early Morning Safari Walk and transfer to Entebbe Airport

Get early up for a safari walk by the lodge chance to see zebras, waterbucks, birds and buffaloes in their day break jungle life! Go back to the lodge for breakfast before starting the transfer towards Entebbe. Along the way we make a stop by the Equator, where you can have the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the southern and northern hemisphere. Connect to Entebbe where your guide drops you in time for an evening flight as we have reached the end of your 10 days Uganda safari (or add an extra night to fly the next day).
