Primate Focused Luxury Uganda Safari - 12 Days

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport Luxury Uganda Safari

You are meat by your safari guide at Entebbe airport and taken to Kampala. Along the way we pass the famous old airport of the Israel 6 hours war in Uganda and have views over Lake Victoria. Check in at the hotel and relax to be ready for your Luxury Uganda safari next day.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Be picked at the hotel after an early breakfast and start the journey out of Kampala. Our first stop is by Ziwa rhino sanctuary where rhinos are being reintroduced to Uganda. Here you will head out on foot for a walking safari to get a look at the rhinos. We then continue through the savanna assorted with Acacia and Shrubs and transfer to the Giraffe Paradise; Muchison Falls national park. Have lunch along the way. We start by visiting the top of the falls – this is a magnificent classic highlight as an explosive dash of water at close range gushes through a narrow crevice. After exploring the falls drive on to the ferry as we cross the Mighty Nile o the way to the lodge. Enjoy a relaxed evening at the lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat-Cruise on the Nile in Murchison Falls NP

Leave the lodge as the sun rises over the savanna for a morning of exploring the park as we continue our luxury Uganda safari. This game-drive gives us chances of seeing giraffes, lions, elephants, buffaloes and more as the checklist of mammals in this park reaches 76. In the afternoon after lunch it is time for the 3 hours boat-cruise on the Nile to the base of the falls. Here you will spot hippos, Nile crocodile, elephants and a variety of beautiful birds along the banks. If you are a keen birder this might be your magnet to catch them.

Day 4: Game-Drive in Murchison Falls

We get another chance to discover Murchison Falls national park this morning, head out for an early game-drive focusing on different safari tracks. Or perhaps have a focus on the prehistoric looking Great Shoebill stork if yesterday was very rich in mammals. Towards midday we cross over with the ferry to a great camp overlooking the Nile. Spend the afternoon making the most of the luxury lodge by the Nile.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park Environs

It’s a long day’s drive with our target to have lunch in Fort portal as the distance was cut yesterday no need to wait for the ferry crossing the Nile. The pressure and fatigue is lessened by a punctuation of stopovers at sceneries like the Rift valley escarpment on Lake Albert (a view point of the Blue mountains of Congo), typical African village setup in the far country side and , tea plantations offer us chances of stretching along the drive ways as we check in at the lodge in the late afternoon. Ndali area is rich with scenic hills, craters and primates like Black and white colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkey and grey cheeked mangabeys.

Day 6: Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Spend the whole day with the chimps participating in chimpanzee habituation, a truly exclusive experience during this luxury Uganda safari. Get to the briefing before the Great Apes leave their nests to plan the day. Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in there frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kazinga Channel Boat-Cruise

After breakfast we drive further southwards with the Rwenzori ranges (longest in Africa) in view or drive through the crater lakes in the hills through to sample out the surprising diversity of savanna trees and wild life. We enjoy lunch at the lodge before going for the 2hrs boat-cruise on the famous Kazinga channel, a 36kms channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you will see land and water adapted hippopotamuses yawning and some slashing canines to each other, the National Geographical society killing machine the Nile crocodile gaping along the banks and savanna version of pigs the warthog- Pumba of the award winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home of Mamaland Uganda.

Day 8: Morning Game-Drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park & Free Afternoon

Explore Queen Elizabeth national park in the cool morning with a game-drive that exposes us to diverse animals. Chances of seeing big 5 members elephants, buffaloes, big cats- lions, leopards, warthogs and hunchback carnivals like hyenas along the circuits as we drive along. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland sports as we reach the flamingos in the salt lakes. Afternoon free: Options of relaxation at the lodge, experiential tourism tracking lions as close as we can get, a village walk or bat caves walk with pythons. (Inform us when booking if you would like any of the activities in the afternoon so arrangements can be made.)

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP via Ishasha’s Tree Climbing Lions

We leave Mweya early in the morning to continue our luxury Uganda safari with the drive on the adventurous road leading to Ishasha, the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Along the way we might see monkeys in the trees and baboons on the road. At Ishasha we will drive off in this adventurous vast savanna area with topis and the southern version of Elephants to hopefully find the lions high in the fig tree branches. After the game-drive we start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. We go through a changing landscape starting with the flat savanna via cultivated hills to the forest covered mountains of Bwindi, the home of the mountain gorillas. We have lunch along the way and check in at the luxurious lodge with stunning views in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Gorilla Trekking Day- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

We have now reached the great highlight of this primate focused luxury Uganda safari, the gorilla trekking days. You will get the chance to enter into the forest of the gorillas twice getting the most out of being in the Misty Mountains. Start this first day with early breakfast before being taken over to the starting point of the gorilla trekking. You will be briefed about the rules in the park as your safari guide takes care of all practicalities. The gorilla trekking is lead by a specialized guide who leads you into the fascinating jungle to the point where the gorillas are and you get to spend one unforgettable hour with them. This impenetrable forest is as well full of birds, butterflies and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, sitatungas and dikers. After the trek you go back to the lodge, look at your pictures and relax to be ready for the next day.

Day 11: Second Gorilla Trekking Chance

Wake up to the sounds of the forest and get ready for you second day of adventure in the Misty Mountains. You now know a bit more what to expect and can hopefully take everything in in another way during this second day of gorilla trekking. As yesterday we go to the starting point and you set off to experience a second meeting with the mountain gorillas. After the trek it is time for relaxation at the lodge, you might treat yourself to a massage after these two days full of physical activity.

Day 12: Flight Day, Fly-Out from Bwindi and connect to international flight

It is time to leave beautiful Bwindi as we have reached the end of the primate focused luxury Uganda safari. We head to the airstrip next to the park where your safari guide leaves you to take a flight to Entebbe, taking approximately 1 hour. You can plan for your international flight in the late afternoon/evening or add another night to fly the next day.
