Family Safari In Uganda - 11 Days

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport

Be met by your guide at Entebbe airport and transfer to Kampala. Along the way you will get a glimpse of Lake Victoria and a first taste of Uganda as you see the busy streets passing by. Settle in at the hotel and relax to be ready for the adventure starting the next day with your family safari in Uganda.

Day 2: Kampala City Tour

You will be amazed with how vibrant the city is from early morning to late night! Enjoy magnificent views of our city on 7 hills. Depending on your interest visits to historical cathedrals, Ugandan market, crafts market or Uganda museum are possible during the city tour. Depending on the day it might be possible to finish off with traditional a local dance concert with storytelling in an open air theater, Ndere troupe (note this is optional and not included in price).

Day 3: Early transfer to Crater Lakes area in Fort Portal

It’s a 4-5hrs drive to reach the Crater lakes area close by Fort Portal. Our target being to have lunch in the crater area with fatigue lessened by stopovers at sceneris and tea plantations along the drive as we check in before lunch. The afternoon is spent taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Day 4: Craters and Village Walks

In the crater lakes area you’ll enjoy a village walk taking you to a crater lake or mahoma waterfalls walk. This is all in the environs of the forest. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon. There is an amazing display of primates in this area over the craters – Monkey species that are seen here are Black and white colobus – red colobus, red tailed monkey and grey cheeked mangabeys. In the forest area you’ll see butterflies and various bird species like the native Great blue Turaco.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Boat-Cruise

After breakfast continue your family safari in Uganda by driving through the Crater lakes in the hills to sample out the surprising diversity of Savannah trees and wild life! In the afternoon we get ready for the classic highlights on the 2hrs Boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel, a 36kms channel linking Lake George – Lake Edward. From the boat you’ll see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning and some slashing canines to each other and the National Geographical society Killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks, Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home. With your binoculars along the peninsula you have a magnificent view of birds, animals like the ever playing African elephants in waters as we sigh and reset fatigue and stress to point zero (it’s a must on this day’s game view).

Day 6: Morning Game-Drive in Queen Elizabeth NP and afternoon Village Walk

Discover Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning, an early game drive that exposes us to diverse animals, Big 5 members Elephants, Buffalos, big cats- Lions, warthogs- Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas are spotted along the Circuits as we drive along and many more species that are residents to this park. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the Flamingoes in the salt lakes. Head back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon when the temperature has cooled down a bit go for a village walk discovering the nearby village and crater lake.

Day 7: Transfer to Ishasha & Afternoon Game-Drive

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge and then set off for the drive to Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park known for its tree-climbing lions. It is an exciting journey going on a road through the park with chance to see elephants, monkeys and more along the way. We reach the lodge by Ishasha to have lunch and relax a bit before the afternoon game-drive. In the afternoon we set our for a game-drive to search the fig-trees for tree-climbing lions, see elephants, buffaloes and topis.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

We leave Queen Elizabeth national park behind in the morning and drive through the cultivated hills to reach the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi in the afternoon. We check in to a lake 1840m above sea level that is safe to swim in and a great place to relax.

Day 9: Relaxation Day by Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy a free day by Lake Bunyonyi during this Uganda family safari. Possible activities are swimming, self-guided walk on the island, canoeing and visiting village islands. Option- hiking, return to the hotel and relax, afternoon canoe ride along the lake. Note that activities this day are optional and not included in the price.

Day 10: After Breakfast transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Enjoy your breakfast and then set of to continue driving through the hilly areas on to the vast savannah dotted with acacia and shrubs in Lake Mburo national park. The target is to have lunch at the lodge and then head out for a game-drive to discover Lake Mburo national park, the ‘Zebra magnet’ of Uganda. We game-drive for view of Zebras, Topis, Warthogs, cape buffaloes and impalas.

Day 11: Early Morning Walk and Transfer To Entebbe

On the last day of your family safari in Uganda get up early for a safari walk with chance to see zebras, waterbucks, birds and buffaloes in their day break jungle life! Get back for breakfast and then drive back 4, 1/2hrs to Entebbe. Stop over at equator for photo poses and lunch. Continue on to Entebbe for your flight. Plan for an evening/night flight.
